When I think of the time my mom and grandma spent on washing clothes and
hanging them to dry, I am very happy with my washer and dryer. I could live
without it, but I don't know that I wouldn't really enjoy the fact, I guess,
now that I've been spoiled. I find the charm of not knowing everything that
is going on in the world to be something our society makes difficult. I do
remember a time when news wasn't instantaneous. It isn't necessarily a
great thing to have that missing from our lives now. Where I dislike the
instant news is, ironically, on election days. When the newscasts predict
winners before California has even closed, I feel as though my vote doesn't
quite count as much. I would miss my computer, of course. I would miss
little things, like fresh veggies and a variety of fruits. I mean, I
*could* grow some veggies and I have a couple of fruit trees, but I like
variety and I would be lying if I didn't day it sure is easier this way. I
remember how hard my grandma worked. I have time for other things and I
take the time. Yeah, I take the time by playing on the computer. :) No,
seriously, I do other things, too, like read, write..correct papers (argh!).
Ah, I know. I would miss the high quality music without an electronic
source. As much as I love some of the local groups, but most of them are
essentially amateurs and hearing really good artists on recordings can't be
replaced. I do go to the city to hear shows and symphonies, but that gets
very expensive.
I also like my dishwasher. My hubby says that I married my dishwasher but
that isn't *that* true.
